Airport Operations Center/Emergency Operations Center, Indianapolis International Airport | Indianapolis, IN

The AOC/EOC facility houses personnel and equipment critical to the operations of Indianapolis International Airport during emergency situations. Its core is designed to withstand a direct hit from an F-4/EF-5 tornado, with additional FEMA 361 severe weather recommendations included. Beyond the hardened core are support offices not critical to emergency operations.  These areas were designed to more conventional design standards to provide a more economical overall design. This includes an exposed reinforced concrete roof slab mimicking the wings of an airplane, resting atop a high-volume clerestory running the length of the building.
