St. Joseph Dam Rehabilitation | Fort Wayne, IN

The 1932 St. Joseph Dam—a key piece of infrastructure featured on the National Register of Historic Places—was in need of rehabilitation. Project complexities included working with limited existing structural information, accessibility challenges and limited funding. CE Solutions took several approaches to deliver an economical and effective solution, such as creating a multi-phased, prioritized approach to repair recommendations. The inspection came in under budget, allowing the team to design and detail the first phase within the original contract fee. The “shovel ready” status of the project helped the City of Fort Wayne in its quest of a grant, and the project went into fast-track design. Economic design solutions allowed the team to include additional security and aesthetic improvements for this important community structure.
