It all started in the basement of his house in 1998. Steve launched CE Solutions based on his desire to start a different type of engineering firm centered on the principles of solid relationships, mutual respect, integrity and ethical practice. “I love being in a profession that makes a difference for people and their communities and improves their quality of life,” Steve says. “It’s also fulfilling to be in a position that creates opportunities for others.”

Steve was inspired to go into engineering after years of encouragement by his parents and great aunt. They noticed his aptitude in math and science, his curiosity and affinity for taking things apart to learn how they work, and the joy he found in creating structures using erector sets and building blocks. In college, Steve was deeply inspired by the late John Hayes, a Purdue professor who promoted the “grand old profession” of civil engineering as a people-serving career. He also stressed the importance of getting involved in matters that affect the profession, the people, and the communities engineers serve. Steve has a passion for servant leadership, mentoring, and giving back to the profession and community that has provided so much opportunity for him.

A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan and avid supporter of all Purdue sports, Steve enjoys spending time with family and friends, golf, music, spectator sports and theatrical performances. He also enjoys reading and traveling, especially to Sanibel Island in Florida and Grand Cayman, where Steve unwinds by swimming with the stingrays or reading stimulating books on leadership.
