Suburban Lanes Bowling Alley Roof Rehabilitation
2000 Merit Award, ACEC Indiana Engineering Excellence Awards
Tipton, Indiana
|
For this bowling alley roof rehabilitation, CE Solutions’ creative approach kept the business operational while the team devised an economical plan that that fell within the owner’s budget. The team used a “vee” bracing system to temporarily support the severely overstressed, long-span timber roof trusses. This allowed the bowling alley to remain open during the peak bowling season while the team could develop an effective and economical repair plan.
Working closely with the general contractor during the design phase, CE Solutions developed a repair scheme that restored the structural integrity of the building within the owner’s insured amount. The scheme allowed for minimal disruption and for the existing roof framing to remain in place. This protected the structure, its finishes, and its contents—which included sensitive pin-handling equipment.
