As the last county seat in Indiana that remained unsewered, Newport was experiencing documented E. Coli issues in open waterways. The County Sanitarian required the Town to address this threat to residents and the environment. CE Solutions provided structural engineering services for a wastewater facility that improved environmental quality for the community.

This project was the first in Indiana to obtain grants from all three funding agencies—State Revolving Fund, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and Office of Community and Rural Affairs. In addition, the project achieved 75 percent of project costs in grants and 25 percent in loans. The project was completed under budget with contingencies that allowed the Town to use additional funds for other wastewater-related needs.
