This fast-track, design/build project for Entergy’s Palisades plant included the design of a hardened concrete structure to house emergency response equipment. As part of a larger scope Fukushima Response project, the building had to be designed to withstand earthquakes, wind loads of 230 mph and tornado missile impacts from a 4,000-pound object moving at 135 feet per second.

Project challenges included working on the site’s highly visible location adjacent to a main access point to the plant, achieving a tight schedule for completion ahead of winter weather, and providing an economical solution that met the building’s design requirements.

CE Solutions served as the lead design firm, coordinating the architecture, site/civil engineering, MEP engineering, and blast consultant firms.
