During a recent visit to a project site, the construction superintendent shared with me he teaches his workers that they can learn a lot from architects and engineers because they are able to conceive and visualize building plans well before construction begins. He emphasized that he deeply admires the pre-building process, knowing it is not an easy task. Well said, and absolutely true!

Engineering first and foremost is serving the clients and the public in a very visible way by solving the pressing needs for new up-to-date, state-of-the-art structures. One such example is the Nash Building, built in 2015, which is part of the Carmel City Center urban development. Urban design perpetually calls for these types of buildings similar to Roman multi-story insulae where tabernae (shops and businesses) are on the ground floor with living spaces directly above. The Nash building helps realize the vision for Carmel’s new downtown to give residents much needed urban amenities within walking distance to shops and businesses.

A great asset that CE Solutions affords is the pursuit of diverse building projects, which in turn creates a more challenging environment for the practicing engineers. It sharpens engineering skills and provides new ways of developing unique structural solutions that arise for each project. I found at CE Solutions that no two projects are alike, from designing multi-story buildings, treatment plants, investigating antiquated structural systems, to designing seismic plate anchorages for sea pumps in Shenzhen, China. CE Solutions is a great place to grow professionally, and I am continuously faced with new challenges in structural engineering.
